Our customers reached out to us to replace an old roof that was letting down the look and feel of their Holland Park West home. This turned out to be a challenging project – but one we were keen to get into!
The challenge came from the two roof products installed on the home. There was the original corrugated iron roof which still remained. On top of that a Colour Tile system was installed in the early 80s. Colour Tile is an inferior product that has a very high tensile strength and is quite prone to kinking. It was attached to the original metal roof with a batten system.
This presented a challenge to us because we weren’t able to see underneath the colour tiles. That meant that we weren’t sure what we were working with.
In addition, there was a solar panel system installed on the roof. This needed to be drained and removed and then reinstalled once the new metal roof installation was complete.
Our Innovative Metal Roofing Solution
Our first task was to remove the inferior Colour Tile product. To do this we also had to release the old batten network that was securing the colour tiles to the corrugated iron roof. Once this was removed, we had to secure all the roof battens underneath. Many of these were past their use-by-date and needed to be replaced as well.
Once this was done, we secured the battens to the rafters. In order to ensure that the roof was safe and secure into the future, we also provided extra tie-downs. And we secured the overall roof frame with extra screws down through to the studs around windows and doors.
This work has prepared the house for a beautiful new metal roof replacement. And though it was a challenge, our expertise and years of experience meant we had the know-how to do the job right and pave the way to bringing out the look and value of this home.
